WELCOME!
We have been breeding quality ADGA dairy goats - with an emphasis on the Oberhasli breed - since 2002 in Central California. In 2012, we started a commercial Grade 'A' goat dairy. While the herd has grown, its quality remains strong and continues to furnish excellent genetics to other breeders. On this site you will find a sampling of our breeding program. Our herd has proven to be very competitive against some of the stiffest competition both at the National and local levels which is evident after garnering 2 ADGA NATIONAL JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS and multiple national class wins. Linear appraisal has also been implemented to help us fully evaluate our herd and provide valuable data to the individual breeds. If you are interested in purchasing a 4Petesake/ Look At Me animal, email us at petesakeoberhasli@gmail.com and we can get you on track to adding an animal that will hopefully fill your needs well.
Our does are machine milked twice daily, fed 2-3 lbs of grain a day based on age and stage of production, and offered free choice minerals and alfalfa hay. We strive for a doe that is structurally correct, has a functional and productive mammary system capable of sustaining lactation for at least 305 days each year, and can produce offspring superior to herself - the ultimate dairy goat, in our opinion. *NEW FOR 2011: The herd is finally going on official milk test and will be utilizing DHI Records. This will serve as one more tool in order to breed better, more productive dairy goats!
The herd once again tested NEGATIVE for CAE in 2010. Our kids are raised on a CAE prevention program consisting of heat treated colostrum followed by pasteurized goat milk (supplemented with quality kid milk replacer as needed). Herd health is of the utmost importance to us. We recognize the fact that in order for an animal to reach its fullest potential it must be healthy and sound, requiring good management practices.
Thank you for your interest in our 4Petesake and Look At Me dairy goat herds. Feel free to surf the site and if you have any questions regarding our animals, or goats in general, send us an email and we will try to respond in a timely manner.
